How many seats is my restaurant licensed for and how many do I really have?Last week I was working with the new owner of a restaurant he had recently purchased. We were creating the seating plan and when I asked him, “how many seats is the restaurant licensed for?”. His answer was immediate, “at least 150 because I have a liquor license”. I could tell my next question surprised him a little bit. “Okay, that’s great BUT how many seats in total can you have?” He did not know. The State of Florida requires that the License showing the number of seats an establishment is licensed for is posted in a visible place so the Inspectors can easily see it.Every restaurant owner should know that number, if you don’t please go look for it and please count the number of seats you actually have before you continue reading! The ONLY reason to check is to see if you are seating in the restaurant the maximum number you can.More often than not we discover the restaurant is actually seating LESS people than the total number the License allows. That is where the Mega Seating sales team comes in. If you are seating less than you are allowed to our team will work with you to get the increase in your seating to get to the approved number.Keep in mind that adding even 2, 3, 4 seats can have a massive impact on your yearly profits. There is no increase in rent for those seats, no increase in servers (only one or two more tables), no increase in any overhead costs so the ONLY increase in cost for those seats is ‘food cost’.Now an additional 2 seats may not seem a lot BUT it is 2 additional seats for EVERY day of the year! The math says it could be an additional 730 servings a year (365 x 2) for basically free!Check the numbers. If there is an issue call us!! ... See MoreSee Less

What colors should I choose for my booth backs and seats?GREAT question, many of our customers ask this question. Let me provide the easy answer first. You CANNOT see the seat color from a distance, it is covered by the table in front of it. For the seat select a solid, complementary color to the back! This is the part of the booth that gets the most wear. At some point you may have to replace the worn out vinyl, maybe, after 100,000 rubs. Don’t spend money on an expensive unique seat color or style that won’t be easy and cost effective to replace.Okay, the backs of the booth. First choice to be made is ‘vinyl’ or ‘fabric’. In the past the vinyl would outlast the fabric by many, many months. Modern fabric is amazingly robust so the longevity can be equal or even longer than viny!Don’t pick too bright a color unless you want to shock our customers. Keep in mind you will see this ‘color’ for years in your restaurant so the NUMBER ONE RULE IS PICK A COLOR YOU PERSONALLY LIKE.Old rules are the best ones.Shades of blues and greens for seafood restaurants. Colors that reflect the water and seashore.Earth tones, brown, maroon, black, dark green for Italian restaurants. Colors from the wine vineyards of Italy.Bright, happy colors for breakfast and Hispanic restaurants, reds, yellows, orange = energy colors that inspire you!Blacks, deep browns, clarets for steak restaurants. You want people to feel like they are in the library of a ranch house!Sometimes colors in the restaurants match the identity of the owner or country on which it is based.Red, white and blue for the USA, France etc.Italy, green, white and red.Again, the MOST important idea to keep in mind is we build your custom booths and we see them in our shop for a week or two, you see them for YEARS!Make sure the color is something YOU LIKE!! ... Why do I need tales, booths and a banquette for my restaurant? We get asked all the time. “what is the perfect combination of tables, booths and banquettes for my restaurant?”.The answer depends 100% on the customer mix you have. For example, some restaurants have large parties on a continuous basis, groups of 6 or more. Some never do, they may have 90% couples of rarely a group of 4.One key to a successful restaurant it to maximize the usage of the seats. In that sense we are like an airline, we want the most seats full the highest percentage of time possible! Our sales team will always ask an owner the following questions?1. What is the make-up of your customers?a. When are you the busiest – every seat full?b. Single people (individuals)c. High number of couples – usually 2 people?d. Large groups – 6 or moree. Families with kidsf. Does it change significantly from morning to night? g. From weekdays to weekends? h. From low time to busy time? i. What type of groups do you turn away when you get super busy?Answers to these questions will help us determine how to build the most effective seating plan for you.Remember a few simple rules:Booths use up less space than tables. You can combine tables for larger groups but can’t combine booths!A banquette will always allow for the most flexible seating – because you can move the tables and chairs in front of it to match the seating needs of the moment! ...
